III Lviv IT Forum Results

In total, 22 industrial companies and service providers, representatives of City Administration and business associations (LEC, EBA, LCCI) took part in the Forum. In the course of the Forum, a number of bilateral meetings between IT sector and other industries representatives were held. During the Forum, a meeting between Comarch and Lviv City Administration representatives was conducted, primarily touching upon the work in direction of creation of E-government system for Lviv. As result of this meeting and the consequent meeting with “BLStream” Company, Lviv City Administration included a separate article “Technical and Economic Assessment of E-government” into the SMEs Development Program for the next two years.
In the sphere of automation, a series of seminars for SMEs is planned to be held in the next budget year by AG LEC under support of City Administration with partial city financing.
We believe that the most significant result of the Forum is the growing interest of the state authorities to the SMEs technological growth in the sphere of Internet, automation, and IT consulting. The aim to conduct a mainly educational event for the possible ERP and other systems users was also achieved. Staff competence as the biggest market problem has received a very good impulse.

On 21-22 February 2008, Consulting Group “Cowperwood” (Dnipropetrovsk) and Analytical Group of Lviv Entrepreneurs Committee, under the support of entrepreneurship department of Lviv State Administration, European Business Association and Business School of Lviv Management Institute, held a practical seminar "The Art of Business Planning and Assessment of Investment Projects".
	The seminar was designed and taught by Viktor Halasyuk, a well-known financial analyst, director of the economic department of “Incon-Centre” of the Consulting Group “Cowperwood”, which since 1993 successfully operates on the market in the sphere of audit, assessment, financial and economic analysis, investment project planning, jurisprudence, tax consulting, book keeping, implementation of legal and information systems, etc. According to the rating of auditing and consulting companies of Ukraine, compiled by the rating centre “Expert Ukraine” in 2006, “Cowperwood” Group was the first of three leaders on the Ukrainian market of consulting services. Representatives of around 20 Lviv companies took part in the seminar. In the course of 2-day intensive studies the participants discussed the following key topics: - strategic and financial planning - investment project planning and analysis - business planning and project promotion - company evaluation, SWOT analysis and due diligence - management of financial and economic indicators - economic risks and financial modeling - assessment of investment effectiveness, business investment attractiveness - long-term business financing and investment attraction.
The seminar participants received the possibility to familiarize with the best world and national practice of investment projects assessment; traditional acknowledged approaches and instruments of investment analysis; innovation economic methods and models, as well as extensive experience of “Cowperwood” Group specialists. This event became the first stage in the formation of international business planning cluster, initiated by the Analytical Group of LEC, “Cowperwood” Group, Consulting Company «Sekwencja» (Poland), Lviv Ivan Franko National University, and a number of other consulting and legal companies. The cluster partner is a non-governmental organization Business-Award Foundation (Vienna), specializing in the support of development of entrepreneurship conscience, planning and activity in Ukraine. During the training, the manager of BAF Ukrainian office Oleksiy Buchenko presented the possibilities of this institution in the sphere of promotion of local investment projects on EU market. Ihor Hurnyak, the Head of LEC Analytical Group, presented the general conception and working mechanisms of the newly initiated international business planning cluster, as well as possibilities of increasing its efficiency with the use of E4 Internet platform. The essence of this cluster is the provision of full circle of business planning services and support of clients at every stage of decision making – from the formulation of business idea to the development of detailed action plan in the specific situation.
